Water Softener Iron Removal
Rust builds up on the resins used in water softeners and is not removed by the normal salt regeneration procedure. This reduces the capacity of your water softener. Used regularly, Red-B-Gone dissolves this rust returning it to a clear liquid that rinses away easily.
FOR AUTOMATIC SOFTENERS, follow the manufacturers instructions and regenerate the water softener as follows:
| Step
1 |
Dissolve
1 cup of Red-B-Gone in 1/2 gallon of cold water. |
| Step 2 |
Pour solution into the storage tank brine well and start regeneration cycle immediately. Allow water softener to finish regeneration cycle completely. |
| Step 3 |
Heavily iron-fouled softeners may require more than one treatment to restore efficiency. Use Red-B-Gone periodically to prevent iron build up. |
PRECAUTIONS
TO OBSERVE
- For best results, be sure the softener is in its sodium (brining) cycle during cleaning.
- Avoid prolonged skin exposure and protect eyes from splashing.
